Time for the USA (and Israel) to ensure the Hormuz Strait is reopened and remains open for the years to come. This seems a pretty low price for starting the war. Time for the US military bases in the Gulf to ensure Iran does not terrorise the Gulf States nor threaten their economies. The US military just needs to allocate the relevant resources to it now and for the years to come. Seems a pretty low price for achieving stability in the Gulf.

Decline of US Graham mentioned is predominantly contributed by this thinking in the last 20 decades and more.

He lost me at we will need our strong allies to take on China, exactly who are our “strong” allies these days? I don’t think China is worried about a single one of our allies militarily. It is just US. We are on our own unless we are relying on strongly worded speeches to protect us then yeah sure we could count on the EU. Our “allies” have completely outsourced their defense to us. The old adage that if it weren’t for us all of Europe would be speaking German right now…we could probably update that to Russian.

  • @danielecostantini5757 · 2 likes Apr 5, 2026

Let's make some facts straight for Jason as it seems that, typical of the western narrative, he tends to have this selective amnesia when it comes to the very mess we created in the first place. Iran went from having a democratically elected president, to a repressive monarchy that imprisoned, tortured, and killed political dissidents (SAVAK), and eventually to the current authoritarian theocratic regime, which has likewise persecuted and executed dissenters. All of this in the wake of the UK and US-backed coup in 1953. Destroying is easy and fast, building is a different story

This is a fundamentalists outlook from the Islamic theology, where the world has to be in total chaos for their "end of the world" event. They definitely would have used the first nuclear weapon they got to achieve this end. They believe this madhi will bring world peace by turning the entire globe Muslim. What about Trump and 1988, reference to KHARG, Iran, and Today?

  • @4183Johnny Apr 5, 2026

We should reframe from taxation and redistribution. The obvious solution is to get the national debt under control, increase the limit for non taxable income, do away with loopholes, and drive growth and wages. But we as country remain so divided, and our elites so aloof, that no definitive course of action is pursued.

He explains that hitting Iran is a mistake to take out their military and potential nukes but then says North Korea is the greatest threat and we should have never allowed that to happen. I didn't go to Harvard but this is double talk.

  • @sully_n_dubs Apr 2, 2026

Great discussion. One question I have is at what point will Europe and Canada lean more closely to China as their preferred World Power. Canada already had leaned in this direction and the US has been concerned about Europes speaking out of both sides of its mouth with Russia and China. In this scenario, do the Americas become more important?

  • @zwatwashdc Apr 1, 2026

Education needs to teach kids about investing, assets, entrepreneurship, etc. preparing them for ‘jobs’ is malpractice at this point. Most people don’t invest because they know nothing about it. I found out my mother was poor partly because she just put her money in a savings account. She didn’t know any better.

    What happened to WW3?

  • @thedude7319 Mar 30, 2026

Tl dr a lot of 1st 2nd and 3rd concequences can happen but we do not know yet. Also listen to the tone how he speaks about xi purging militairy branch compared to his opinion about usa america and how trump handled it. Is somebody like peter zeihan correct? Also probably not, people have to understand life as a chess game in which every event can and eventually will re shuffle every place after each event

  • @jasonchen-alienroid Mar 28, 2026

On manufacturing, it's purely a cost issue. Taiwan had enough robotic manufacturing in the 90s. When China allowed Taiwan to invest in China, almost all robotics engineers across the globe lost their jobs. As a reference, a robotic arm in the 90s cost about $300K USD. Compare to factory worker's pay in China in 2000, it was 200-400RMB/mo. For a robotic arm, you could hire and scale so much. I'd say it's less of an issue relative to other issues. China is no longer cheap manufacturing as it is considered quality (go to ikea and see, made in China is often better than made in elsewhere). China would have the same issue of every other empire, that when economy grow, there's less incentive to work more, which is the case going forward.
