I'm a college lecturer. I a previous life I worked in IT (I now teach about it). So, I get along well with our IT organization. The CIO was telling me A LITTLE about the massive amount of fraudulent student loans that come through. It's a major job for MANY people to combat this. When fraud is proven, we have to make examples of these monsters. We are only looking at what the fraudsters get... Oakland CA is already charging a $6000.00 dollar tax on any lot left undeveloped or home of a senior who can no longer care for herself or live alone in her home of over 60 years. They are trying to collect $12,000. From a working class person who depends on the wealth raised from home ownership to cover her end of life care. Seizing private property by the city is already happening in Oakland. My brother is fighting this which really wears a person down.

At a minimum, they should receive harsh, unequivocal sentences. This era of leniency toward crime—especially crimes committed by people in positions of power—must end. Public officials entrusted with our tax dollars should be held to higher standards, not shielded when they abuse the system for personal or political gain. Unarmed bank robbery typically carries a 5–10 year prison sentence. If ordinary citizens face that level of punishment, then those in power who commit large-scale fraud against the public should face far more severe consequences. Their crimes are not victimless—they undermine trust, steal from working Americans, and corrode our institutions. As an American citizen, I’m fed up with this. Hold them accountable. Lock them up. Make examples of those who steal from the American people.
