-
Jason thinking someone who owns a $5mil+ SECOND home is middle class is content I come here for!
-
“Where do you stay when you vacation?” In a hotel. 😂😂😂
-
It's funny the bubble they are in, thinking $5 mil homes are going to crash anything
-
Felt like an OG ep from 3 years ago. Keep it up!
-
Chamath speaks truth! Sacks in one sentence says it will collapse housing prices Chamath points out that’s a good thing Sachs backtracks absolutely rich people should pay a high tax on second and third homes they do in the most successful Capitalist country Singapore because guess what, it helps working class be happy and not want to burn everything to the ground!!
-
I loved JCal's game show. I drew a blank on every one. The best part was watching Chamath going all-in for the win! Great pod this week, Besties!
-
i love how this guys freakout when so threatens their wealth, I am here for that
-
The price is wrong might be the best segment of the year 😂
-
The average American will not be willing to pay 1 penny more towards their energy bill to subsidize AI companies with trillion dollar valuations .
-
Wait - billionaire tech bros are anti taxes on real property?? What?!
-
Uber dude trying to fib us into believing data centers bring continuous jobs
-
This has become absolutely listenable.
-
These episodes have been getting better and better lately
-
If the so-called 'Age of Abundance' from AI, that the billionaires keep telling us about, is upon us then eliminate income and property taxes for the lower and middle class. If you want middle-class support then we want to see the benefit first. Far too long have the rich taken advantage of our labor, so much so that prosperity is even in our vernacular anymore - just survival.
-
Always enjoy the pod, but this was a particularly great episode.
-
I own a building company in London, we have had 80 % less work this year so far.
-
I haven't tuned in in a while. My first observation is that these guys have all aged significantly in the last year except Jason, who actually looks younger.
-
Travis' skinsuit slips off in the first few seconds and you can see him flick his serpentine tongue
-
Florida taxes second homes sooo much more than those that are primary residences.
-
A good rule of thumb is this: data centers are usually huge capital projects, decent for temporary construction employment(1000+), but relatively weak generators of large permanent local workforces(120 or less) once they are up and running.
-
I don’t like disparaging towns and smaller municipalities for voting down or banning data centers. These people don’t owe the tech companies anything.
-
i hope u guys are right and i can finally afford something in nyc
-
Haven’t watched the episode yet. Has Travis solved quantum gravity yet?😂
-
Anthropic valuation flip is crazy but I'm more stunned Chamath found a sweater that cozy.
-
It’s also a demand crash in Austin that’s causing rent declines gents
-
Friedberg hits hr at 46m. Why would a small town approve a dc so a few billionaires can make robots That Are Gonna Take Away All TheIr Jobs?
-
Data centers are not popular, because they EAT all resources that are needed for people around the world - memory kits, GPUs, CPUs, SSDs or other storage solutions - all prices went up by a mile and are predicted to go up even more - that makes MOST OF THE WORLD either not have access or pay way more than before for the "PRIVILAGE" to own tech - all those parts are used to build bloody everything else in today's world - and so far at least AI has not shown enough promise to deliver a "good end-product" for all those people to suffer now in hope of something great in the end.
-
AI datacenter pitch: 1. Give us tax brakes 2. We're going to drive up electric rates 3. If successful, our AI models will take your jobs 4. Datacenters create few long term jobs 5. Any jobs we do create, we're either going to offshore or H1B And the industry is stunned, STUNNED communities are giving them the finger.
-
David Sacks says that NYC should not raise taxes, but then at 37:40 he says that his investment in the Bird scooter company died when cities didn't build lanes for his company's scooters! He only wants governments to spend money to help his companies make a profit!!!
-
Sam Altman had someone firebomb his home, let’s not kid ourselves. He needed to flip the narrative
-
The data centers provide temp construction jobs at the cost of eventually destroying every job
-
These guys all have backyards big enough for a data center. If they agree to put one in their own backyard it would go a long way toward getting the rest of us on board.
-
I find it insane that you guys talk about powered shells and data centers, but Jason wouldn’t even allow an AI construction and land development startup to come to Launch Fest last month. Focused on filling available electricity pockets with small data centers triggering less community pushback… as well as able to run off much smaller solar arrays + BESS more easily because it’s a distributed smaller focus. Also focused on bringing affordable smaller housing to the areas to improve the communities in other ways, which seems odd at first, but makes sense the more you see the DC pushback and housing crisis… Jason even mentions housing in the podcast and said he doesn’t know who is working on it. Absolutely mind blowing.
-
It's a very old lesson: TAX AND SPEND DOES NOT WORK.
-
Another banger guys. Keep it up.
-
We need a class action lawsuit against these companies that monopolise all the compute on the planet
-
Friedberg is so right that data centers are the 'pied a terre of progress' for the rich that most Americans see no real benefit from and thus resent. And I think OpenAI is so incredibly overvalued it could mimic the Allbirds fiasco in a few years. A good percentage of Americans won't use OpenAI because they can't stand Slimy Sam Altman, believe his sister's accusations of incest and suspect he has something to do with the murder of whistleblower Suchir Balaji.
-
All A.I. will do is widen the wealth gap. Everyone knows it.
-
The problem is the greed in the government system. It rewards companies better than it’s citizens.
-
Regular people don’t care about your AI. Because it’s absolutely true that it only benefits the upper class at this point. And it’s gonna be a while before that changes. Create a company that fixes the K shape and you win.
-
These companies are so valuable because they will displace most jobs
-
So even Friedberg knew about Swalwell. Too bad Friedberg doesn’t know anyone with a public platform.
-
@48:15 Friedberg "The govt is so inefficient that they cant deliver on their promises" Best line in the pod.
-
All the rich people leaving New York should go live by a data center.
-
Why no captions
-
The tech bro bubble on full display. The delusional hubris of this group of billionaires (billionaires minus Jason, of course) is crazy.
-
Empty home tax not great. I am in Vancouver BC Canada - we have been hollowed out by unfettered foreign non dom money. Been brutal but like NYC we have limited land so land values have escalated. The restriction on foreign capital parking would have made a huge difference
-
I don't really understand how people could argue against the tax. If it were a first home, I 100% agree that's ridiculous. But it's a second home, a vacation home, and you're able to afford holding a $5 million property, rental or not, it will hollow out the city as Chamath said, with London. Ultimately this going to release homes back onto the market. These aren't cheap homes. People who are buying these homes are going to be affluent, they're going to have money, they're going to be spending their money in New York. Overall, it's going to increase the standard of living because you're going to have more wealthy people demanding a higher standard of living, increasing everyone's standard of living. I honestly don't see it as a loss in any way. The only reason it's a loss for someone is if they're selfish enough to not understand that holding a property essentially hostage for decades or more on end is hurting a city overall.
-
Quit letting companies get away with not paying their share of taxes and we wouldn't have half our problems.
-
Fried burgers is my new favorite now. He is so on point with getting to the core of these problems.fix the k fix the k fix the k. Fix the money guys.
-
Don't hold your breath, Hormuz is closed!
-
JCal's "The Price is Wrong" was a funny addition to the show. Even Sacks seemed to like it!
-
Jcal doesn't have the Gemini Ultra, the watermark is still visible. If early Uber investors can't afford AI subscriptions, we are definitely in the permanent underclass.
-
Scam Bankman-Fried is looking forward to many deep conversations about AI, LLMs and datacentres at lunches over the years with Scam Altman.
-
Thank god the market is up
-
My heart breaks for multi-millionaires not being able to leave their second homes empty 😢. Thanks for spending so much time to weep for multimillionaires 😢.
-
I came here just to hear the rich people complain about how things are getting a little itty-bitty hard for their people.
-
I’ll start building a Money parking lot next month , by June y’all can come park your money there ! No extra charge trust me !
-
Austin IS a democratic city. Every major city in America is.
-
I remember early internet 1.0, a backwater florida bank announced they were launching a website and stock went from ~10 to 90+. Those were the days.
-
If a Saudi prince or Chinese billionaire wants to park money in New York, buy a damn municipal bond. Chamath is correct and Jason is so liberal until they start talking about his money. Hypocrite
-
Wow. Seems that Elon has the right idea putting AI in space. It will be interesting to see how that situation develops.
-
Data center permits should MANDATE that the hyperscalers create their OWN energy factory next to it, they build them at least 15km away from cities, and sell their excess energy at cost to the local communities. Otherwise, no permit. Make the self--power mandatory, and the problem will be solved.
-
Not gonna lie, 'trickle down avionics' by JCal was very good
-
Hope there is something that covers the Democrat Law stopping people like Nick Shirley from investigating fraud. I can't understand how 50% of a Country supports a Party that bans highlighting fraud - imagine if this was happening in Russia or China
-
Data centers are getting stopped by farming communities that don't understand why massive companies want to put these cancer making, electric producing behemoths in their backyards. They view it as "FIGHTING THE MAN"
-
Why is it so difficult for the authorities to look into the historical investments made by the Pelosi's and look at what was going on in Congress at the time?
-
I can’t wait until AI flys your private planes into a data center.
-
The Price is Wrong was adorable. It really made all the little boys show up. Way to go Jcal!
-
I work at ServiceNow you guys should invite Bill McDermott on the pod to talk about the Saas pocalypse and play the price is wrong 📈
-
Tech bros extolling the yet to be delivered benefits of AI, while Oracle lays off 30,000 employees with an email. 😮😮
-
Finally a good episode with healthy real debate and where you stayed in your lane.
-
Nice to see Travis on the show..
-
It will become low income housing when the city requisitions the housing and goes full Dr. Zhivago
-
The all in podcast is 100x better at making money and balancing a budget then the entire government
-
Did Sacks create a virtual background of his basement?
-
I’m in Augusta and they tried building 2 data centers and the issue there was the locations and bringing down their residential property values with being so close. They would rather that land be used for something that benefits them more, or more residential.
-
These guys think everybody in Manhattan owns a 5MM home.
-
We overestimate the positive impacts of the wealthy. I can’t find any data that suggests that they psotively impact the cities in which they reside.
-
David is a very smart man almost always agree with everything
-
Did I read the thumbnail right that data centers are banned in 30 states???
-
I don't care how much money you have , I mean it. I just want these data centers to stop raising everyones electric bills. Verizon went up 7% this year. Now we're paying for a damn wind mill farm off the coast of Virginia Beach and the data centers.
-
You're saying that constantly telling people white collar jobs will be eliminated in 6-12 months isn't wining any fans?! Say it ain't so!
-
You literally have no idea what is happening in the real people businesses? 3rd generation business suffering insane costs of every insurance while working contracts with millionaires and billionaires in Greenwich, CT and surrounding areas. A mess.
-
That’s why I don’t respect this podcast. Think through the actual mechanism first. When wealthy out-of-town buyers purchase second homes in New York and don’t live in them, they remove units from the real, usable housing supply. That artificially reduces inventory, which pushes prices up for everyone who actually needs to live there. The Pied-à-Terre tax is designed to counter that exact behavior—by making it more expensive to hold unused second homes, it discourages those purchases, increases available inventory, and puts downward pressure on prices. Now here’s the part that makes them sound like hypocrites. They understand this mechanism perfectly. When David Sacks says “that’s going to make people not want to buy homes,” that’s not some unintended consequence—that’s literally the goal of the policy. The whole point is to make those specific types of buyers—non-resident, second-home investors—less willing to buy, because their participation distorts the market for actual residents. So they’re not confused—they’re selectively framing the outcome as a negative because it affects a class of buyers they identify with or benefit from. They’ll talk about markets and efficiency until the mechanism is applied in a way that redistributes access away from wealthy investors and toward normal residents. Then suddenly the same logic becomes a problem. That’s the contradiction.
-
I live in a conservative town and they are not building houses or apartments and they are charging too much for what we are getting.. not to mention there are no good paying jobs...so I don't know what you're talking about but I am experiencing it for real.. people can't afford to live anymore but you guys are so out of touch you wouldn't know that...
-
You should have an ENTIRE 1 hour cast about the actual facts about Data centers
-
Price is wrong had me in stitches 😂
-
In Santa Fe, most nice houses are empty most of the time except during the Opera season. It was nice for walking around as it was quiet and the properties are beautiful and inspiring. The only humans around are the lawn care and home upgrade/service type folks.
-
Ro khanna being a great return is hilarious
-
1:00 it is a rich person tax bro
-
I agree with David Sacks. Focus on enterprise customers. They have money to spend that small consumers do not.
-
We should follow Singapore‘s lead when it comes to homeownership. The American model is clearly broken.
-
Electrical bills rising; water and aquifer depletion; and local toxicity. That's why we don't want data centers.
-
I like the new game show - the price is wrong. It's hilarious 🤣
-
San Diego now wants to do a second home tax as well for vacancies
-
Sacks went full Alex Jones on Pelosi loved it.
-
Price is Wrong was awesome. 🤣👌
-
Good to have TK back on
-
divide the empty mansions for parking ill gotten gains for collective housing.
-
13:30 I don't even know why Perplexity is being included. All other companies have their frontier model - guess who's the impostor. I also think JCal has some vested interested in Perplexity.
-
I feel like AI companies constantly talking about how their products will replace the workforce didn't help engender support from the public. Ironically they did so in an attempt to justify their capital expenditures and maintain valuations. They might have capped their short term potential by overselling it.
-
Regarding cities blocking the use of scooter rentals, was that because urban kids were using them to terrorize the public?
-
So Jason is David Sacks and Chamath is the new Jason?
-
Did JCal say: “Congratulations, Mamdummy?”
-
I dont understand how people use Anthropics instead of OpenAI. Anthropics is like a toy, whereas OpenAI provides correct results. Weird that people dont get it? i guess they dont use it for coding/engineering.
-
Silicon Valley leaves a bad taste in people’s mouth- every time we turn around Silicon valley builds a new atomic bomb, and the rest of us sit around and wait for it to go off-oh, and we need to feel grateful for it😅
-
these guys understanding of politics is like a fourth grader
-
holy crap... dudes need to be scared. yo! if someone steps up to you and squeezes the trigger it's little different from an economic murder. you squeezed the trigger from miles away. the net effect is the same.
-
Mag7 should have been paying us for using our data since day one. Anyone who thinks that AI benefits will trickle down to us…..😂
-
Swalwell was the sacrificial lamb for a much bigger agenda. Everyone knew of his past and yet the Democrats still threw him out to the wolves. This is by plan.
-
Didn't Sacks get demoted from being the Crypto Czar?
-
The vitality of NYC is better because of a $200mm empty penthouse. No. NYC is better when rents are cheaper and more interesting people can live and open small businesses.
-
Ignorant people don't realize billionaires or people that create things create more tax revenue. What have you created? These politicians just pander to the naive. Just cause they have money doesn't mean they get more of a say. Two things can exist at the same time.
-
The Price is Wrong is the greatest segment ever. Nice intermission.
-
I love that the show has no ads.
-
Love the show. Game show the price is wrong needs to be a regular. P.S. my yellow lab loves the wet your beak song. We dance at end of every episode every weekend
-
Red state real estate, only way to go!
-
I’m glad these guys are having fun.
-
Respect to these guys (or whichever guy it was) for hiring a good producer, and to the producer. The handling of the camera feeds, charts and other images is so smooth and correct you don't even notice it. Who else does that? I'm not a pod-watching monster but I can only think of JRE, and his guy doesn't do it as well as this. Serious plus which all pods need to emulate.
-
It literally just dawned on me that JCal is effectively Jimmy McGill on Better Call Saul on these pods lol.
-
Love these guys so much!
-
Great show! Very informative and insightful!
-
19:35 is a great insight by Travis.
-
Jcal on fire this episode! swift with it
-
Trump wants a computer with a "brain" where humans are in the loop. Jinping wants a national brain (computer) that controls all the humans in the loop. Trickle down avionics is that like downward climbing. Loved it thanks guys.
-
I didn't know
-
The trivia is fun!
-
The concern over Anthropics core infra is valid. My dashboard goes blank, my Claude Cowork bot, Code just stop for no good reason and I make it a point to use it late or over night. It's clear they can't keep up with the demand for compute.
-
J.Cal : #1 podcast in the world Joe Rogan : Dude, am I a joke to you ?
-
Chamath owned this one 💪
-
Stamp Duty is paid on all UK property purchases, not just in London
-
The game show was the most fun I have seen Chamath have
-
Great episode!
-
Jason is the reason this pod is so great lmao
-
Keep the Game show!
-
Good show
-
ROFL that game show was so damn funny!!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 😂😂😂
-
Why not let AI company to support the social security?
-
47:54 You're all still missing key points in opposition. The opposition for data centers in North Dakota comes down to the location with no ordinances and secrecy surrounding the projects. As well as concerns with water/ electricity usage has been impacted in other communities. County commissioners and absentee land owners are signing NDAs for cash. Why are we using farm land for data centers? Nobody wants to live near noisy diesel generators and cooling fans. These should be built in industrial zones. ND generally welcomes all business and growth but the way these are implemented is not going well.
-
Re; Swalwell: strategically more astute to withhold a reputation kill-shot until it's release is too late for a replacement candidate with any chance to step in and to build pre-election momentum..
-
Who invests in a any home knowing your taxes go up and property value goes down ✋ 🖐️ up
-
Been following this podcast for a while now, and been a fan of Chamath's pragmatism. He has been an AI cheer leader, but with healthy caution. I particularly like that he mentioned companies like Uber is not even able to use AI to productively make code without burning a lot of tokens. This crazy spending on tokens, which probably is part of "CapEx" justification, is the straw that will break. When efficiency is ignored, trouble is just around corner.
-
Calling All-Birds the Canary in a coal mine was rich! Chamath is the best
-
Euclides. 🙂👍👍👍💯🦅✨
-
Jason strongholding the conversation most of the time and not letting other people talk is the real problem. You can just keep yabbing about nonsense and not letting others talk. Remember you are moderating. You bring up a topic, you do the introduction, and you let others talk, how hard is that?
-
Interesting dialog. I would like to hear AI is going to mine for materials and buld factories for people to make products like cars, steel, aluminum (or whatever) that people use? When the products are purchased, the AI company should make a profit for investors? Second thing is this issue of robotics. If a robot drives a car instead of a cab driver, that's an employee not paying taxes to state and feds? Does the company now pay the tax instead of the employees?
-
Honestly the tax on 2nd homes is growing on me as the Ludacris cost of houses keeps just climbing to the moon... So much wealth concentration to the point where peoples 2nd 3rd ... 4th homes. I wonder what happens when the inflation starts moving from housing and equities and starts to squeeze people on food and commodities...revolution territory, probably not in the good way.
-
I wonder how long-term margins will look for companies that are built on LLM APIs. Old software had virtually no cost of goods sold. It doesn't cost Microsoft anything to sell an extra unit of Office 365. Anything built on an API is going to have a way higher cost of goods sold.
-
Travis Cordell Kalanick is an American businessman best known as the co-founder and former chief executive officer of Uber. Travis currently leads Atoms (formerly City Storage Systems/CloudKitchens) as its CEO, focusing on industrial robotics, AI, and "ghost kitchens" for food delivery. He has pivoted to physical automation, has relocated to Texas, and has a net worth estimated around xxxxxxxxx
-
price is wrong = winner
-
1:02:12 The answer is because they WANT our politicians compromised with blackmail material so they can control them. Almost ALL of our politicians are being either blackmailed, bribed or both - it is beyond obvious
-
Hey guys what should we talk about? The current war? Trump launching a prediction app? Oil features sell after Trumps post? Melania’s press conference? Jesus post? Na let’s play “name that starts up”
-
before we do data centers in space, why don't we do data center in the ocean on all these niw empty cargo ships, dont we already have modular data centers in cargo containers?... might be a good way to jump start Seasteading.
-
Chamath. Good to see a progressive move back to facts and calling it as it is. The Energy Pledge is just that, a pledge (just like DEI, Climate and ESG), it can’t be forced upon energy companies. Rates will increase in local communities already struggling to make ends meet, as AI strips these same people from their jobs, not to mention the threat level of living next to a data center, which is a primary target if/should domestic terror escalate. A lack of understanding on how generational farmers think about their land is completely missed. To a generational farmer, land is not just property. It is identity, memory, obligation, and legacy made physical. Offering more money for it can feel like offering cash for someone’s roots and selling their last name. Power availability and data centers are one the single biggest bottlenecks, including the people to build them that also live in these communities (electricians/plumbers). It’s time to think more strategically and truly care for these communities or the industry will soon see the squeeze it will put on this entire nation.
-
Chamath, at the time when the proof of productivity boom and profitability is obvious, the stock price would have gone up already
-
The price is wrong name that startup segment is my favorite addition
-
Does anyone else notice that watching Moonshots & All in podcast, it makes you think more logically, and impossible to have pointless conversations. 🕳️
-
I love 'The Price is Wrong!"
-
I love the levity and humor that Jason brings to the podcast that game show set up was hilarious
-
Trickle down Avionics 😂😂😂 One of J-cals best moments on the pod
-
Great episode boys! Was fun
-
19:53: "Efficiency will outstrip subsidy"...💯
-
These podcast make my day, thx👊🏽
-
Dwarkesh asking Jensen to bring in the plumbers to GTC was absolute podcast Gold. Jason you are right again, what happens when data centers are already made?
-
Good episode this week 🎉
-
cheers guys. another great show..My Saturday indulgent while prepping next weeks charts.
-
I loved the price is wrong lol.
-
Name that failed start up was great! Make an interactive game for fans!
-
I LOVE the sweater jacket Chamath!!!👍
-
Game show segment was great
-
The hyper scalers do need to cool it on hovering up all the NAND flash and RAM supply and enshittening consumer electronics.
-
Thanks for the show!
-
Love this pod
-
Are you really the #1 podcast in the world?
-
I don't usually get impressed by podcasts, but the mix of good insight, tension, disagreements, political views, dry humor, etc. is a good mix that works well. The tech insight even isn't that bad. Although hot takes are usually wrong initially, the self correctiob a few episodes down the line, keeps things on track.
-
Thanks for content. Always appreciate the chance to listen. Suggestion: post production doesn’t take much to AI voice translate to other languages, might be worth adding. Cheers!
-
Too Good!
-
Please continue GAME SHOW- ALL IN INQUISITION 🍀
-
Love the joke in the middle about the acquisition Jcal. Hilarious! what AI did you use to make that? I am sure several can but id love to see your prompts. could be funny to make more of these!
-
Loved the game 😂
-
Love the game show !
-
LMAO.......The Boys are back!
-
Love the price is wrong!
-
You got to love Jason: "Dario reach out." [...] "Punch the ticket Dario."
-
1:09:27 SPAC Jesus doubling down on his hubris😂
-
I completely agree with Chamath and Travis. I’ve been on this for insurance with our NLP/AI based solutions and change is hard! The ROI is the key and I can talk about hours. Are the impacts there yes and are they high - yes but change management can be detrimental. I would love be on your show and talk about ai in insurance .
-
Chat Gpt saved my life. I went to hospital because rightly it predicted I had 3 strokes at 33.
-
Watching from Texas. I've noticed increased local news articles re resistance in Texas to AI data centers. The 2 main reasons seem to be: amount of water data centers would need, in a state experiencing draught; and 2, amount of land that data centers would require, which would increase traffic and other problems that go with development of land. The articles note resistance of citizens but there may be others who have their own agenda who are exerting influence? I don't know enough about data centers to give an informed opinion.
-
I live in Iowa near Rockwell Collins. Many of my friends work there. We have a tech center being built near our airport.
-
I really gotta say when chamath is talking markets and tech and not glazing the administration he is on his absolute A game. Compared to alot of the hype driven narrative investors he actually knows whats actually happening on the ground and isnt afraid to take the realistic contrarian view on everything. Kudos
-
55:50 ChaMeth LOL
-
I don't like outsourcing my thinking, but when Friedberg is laughing at a joke I know it's funny
-
"You'll get your chance Shammith" 😂
-
Sacks, you need to have a conversation with Congressman Tom Tiffany of WI. He's a Republican running for Governor of WI, and one of the things he is running on is to ban data centers in the state.
-
Quibi should have definitely been named Quickie 😂
-
anybody have a link to the mckinsey study that Sacks referenced regarding AI implementations
-
1:22:01 as of April 2026 you’d have to pry Claude from my dead hands as my last app 😂
-
YES👏👏please build your Billionaires ATM machines in space.
-
I miss hearing your intro music to start the show… change it back. Loved the game show, nice to see you all are actually humans 😂
-
Why am i not surprised that chamath won the game about overvalued ventures. 😂
-
Auto-transcript rendered Chamath's surname as "Poly-hypatia". I'm finally going to be able to remember it
-
Love the gameshow
