I am a cancer free human due to CAR-T. I have had non-Hodgkins for a number of years and for the past 4 years it recurred. Going through Chemo, infusions and trial experimental pills, it maintained the size of the tumor but it was still there. I was given the opportunity for CAR-T therapy and opted for it. It was not the easiest treatment but after my T-cells were infused back into my body, within 6 weeks and a total Petscan, I am cancer free!!!! My numbers are good and I am so Thankful for the Dr's, Researchers and medical personnel who brought this technology into existence. Great interview. I have followed Dr Makary for the last few years. Thankfully he's a part of this administration.

This is one of the most encouraging, uplifting videos on YouTube. As a Stage IVB cancer survivor, I am astonished at how little conversation there has been about the preventative steps that matter most: avoiding sugar, close connections, food as medicine, and exercise. I am so grateful to see real, national leadership in the most important areas in our lives: what we put in our bodies and how we treat them. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.

He’s good. The FDA was a major headache during my time in pharma/biotech doing development work. While we all support safety and efficacy, the inflexible regulatory system at the agency created a significant obstacle. It’s accurate to say that the high cost of drug development is largely driven by these regulations.

Him and Dr. Prasad are amazing. They truly try to be guided by science and open debate. IMO, that’s why they are attacked so much. The corruption from career bureaucrats, academia, and politicians is too strong. It’s a self serving system that gives awards, jobs, grants, prestige, promotions to those that push agendas and powerful interest groups. Hopefully these leaders have the opportunity to bring true science back and foster real health promoting actions… at least for some time, until the corrupt ones return…

It's a safeguard. There has to be a way to measure one person's utility to society because why should society have to foot the bill and pay millions of dollars to save somebody in their 70s or later, when they've already lived their life life-saving medicine should only be given to people under 65

  • @dianezhi · 1 like Feb 8, 2026

This was great. I love Marty Makary and was really excited to see him at the help of FDA. However, I think you didn't press him at all about the food pyramid and how it was derived. There were only 9 people and at least 7 one them have ties to the meat, dairy industry and to General Mills. so, are we at all surprised that the protein goals doubled when there are no protein deficiency in the US? The red meat got the golden crown even though irrefutable data shows that consumption of red meat should be cut to a minimum and on and on. There were no hard ball questions on this issue and how robust is the data data was cited for these guidelines.

Hey— eye doctor here— Friedberg, the pink eye story is relevant. Rather than have access to otc antibiotics, which would likely not impact the most common cause of “pink eye” (viral), you would want an immediate video telehealth visit, even AI-optimized, to get a short-term treatment plan and proper follow up to maximize benefit and minimize risk (including long term risk of community antibiotic resistance)

This podcast should be part of everyones educational curriculum be it in science/medicine, IT, statistics, history, or governmental affairs. I bet you would have some spirited discussion and a constructive exchange of ideas beyond the classroom setting. • @15Patriot Feb 6, 2026

Thank You for your leadership at FDA, Dr. MaKary. Bio‑ethics is an indispensable cornerstone for the flourishing of humanity. It provides the moral framework that guides scientific discovery, medical practice, pharmaceutical development, and public‑health policy, ensuring that advances in biology and technology serve the common good rather than undermine human dignity or safety. By insisting on informed consent, equitable access to care, rigorous risk‑benefit assessment, and transparent decision‑making, bio‑ethics protects vulnerable individuals, fosters public trust, and promotes justice across societies. In short, without a robust bio‑ethical foundation, the pursuit of knowledge and innovation could jeopardize the very lives and values it aims to improve—making bio‑ethics not merely advisable but truly imperative for the sake of humanity.

Thanks to your leadership @ the FDA, Dr Makary. And to Dr Jay Bhattacharya and Dr. Vinay Prasad. I have a couple of thoughts: (1) I am very happy to hear about several new jnitiatives. My kids have definitely started taking in more protein. I do not know if carbs can be opted out, particularly in the private sectors (sports and restaurants). (2) I have been taking covid vaccinations yearly and sharing effects over LinkedIn. In addition to your ongoing efforts with mRNA vaccinations, please approve the non-mRNA vaccinations available with CVS. (3) Do we come back to report on the campus? I will be otherwise looking at the information and shooting emails for clarifications. Congratulations to you and family on having a son 🎉 Best!

Great Discussion! Thank you Dr Makary for your inspiring vision. As someone involved in bringing biologics to market, I can tell you that there were 9 entrants that were ready to supply the market immediately after Humira’s patent expired. However, you are absolutely right that the price didn’t adjust down but that was directly because of the PBM influence and their markups .
